CÔTES DU RHÔNE 1737

In the eighteenth century, wines travelled by boat in oak barrels. Roquemaure was then an important port on the Rhône. In order to differentiate barrels and wines, a Royal edict of 1737 imposed the branding of the letters CDR "La Coste du Rhône" with a hot iron, in order to simplify identification. A beautiful appellation was born
