Following the founding of Monségur in 1265 by Eléonore de Provence, wife of Henri III Plantagenet, the entire region benefited from the agricultural and economic renewal driven by the Queen of England. This was also the case for the neighboring village of Sainte-Gemme successfully developed vine growing. Château des Rois, a worthy descendant of this heritage, produces Bordeaux Red and White of know-how resulting from its history.
